A Fireproof Life

Living a FIREPROOF life for the everlasting, almighty GOD of the UNIVERSE

So, yesterday, parent came home from their LG and got super worried cuz one of my friends, a son of one of their LG members, got selected for NS (national service) in Malaysia. Apparently, all the 1991 get their result of the national lotto draw for the 3 mth NS. They quickly asked me to key in my IC card no. (an identification card for all Malaysians) on the national service website and this is what popped up:

"No KP anda tidak terdapat dalam senarai yang terpilih. "

Luckily, that means that i my IC number wasnt selected to do the complusory national service. Imagine if i had to go back to malaysia to do NS for 3 mths lol =]

This happened a while ago...but i accidentally found this pic (and a few others) today. We (grace, mel, henry, damo and i) stopped by maccas on the way home from Bendigo and ordered 100 nuggets. Origin of this random act? Mel once ordered 60 nuggets with her brothers. And so we decided that we would beat it! So i went up to the counter and asked for 100 nuggets. They were a bit shocked. They did ask me a few times: "100 nuggets?" "100?" . Incidentally they gave us one box short so i had to go back again to ask for the last one. sigh! Anyways, it was a nice ride back to Melb.

Another funny thing happened, we were taking pictures in the car, then Henry noticed that the car beside us slowed down a little. ROFL, they thought it was a speed camera. We flashed the camera a few more times and true enough, cars did slow down. But after a while, people noticed that it was just some random kids having fun in the car =]

Our lg got a new blog =] link link: http://lgmirror.blogspot.com/

well, i had lg yesterday and it was interesting, as always. i always look forward to lg - the deep talks that we have...*cough cough*
Jon: "So how many kids do you want, and in what order (i.e. girl, boy, boy etc)"

Nah, Lg is always awesome. Our official game is now taboo...the enthusiasm that Kaitlyn and I show for taboo is scary :) seems like after every lg, there is always time for taboo, no matter how close we are to exams. And so, yesterday, there was the usual guys vs. girls taboo game however, this round the girls totally owned =]

Grace (to me): muscles of what expression?
Me: Facial
Grace: The front part only
Me: Face
(one point!!)

Grace: where is jason la from?
Me: Canberra
(ting! one point)

Me: Lala, po and dipsy
Adeline: Teletubbies
(one point!)

Adeline: what doesnt kristy have at her house?
Kristy: Pepper
(one point!)

Ah, the taboo words dont really restrict us at all =]

But the guys did not bad tho, they got some difficult words.

back to perio =]

These guys are awesome as: they make an entire song with just their voices (vocal play)...all the instuments are created by thier voice =] Hats off to Naturally 7!

Wall of Sound

Feel it (in the air tonight)

Back to another week in Bendigo, well, half a week...this is in fact the last week of uni. Reflecting over the year, it has been pretty good. I must say, i have no complaints. Adjusting to uni life was different and difficult at first, but with almost everyone in the course going through the same thing, i.e. the move from metropolitan to bendigo, it helps =] I thank God for giving me awesome friends for me to hang out with up here, and despite the ups and downs of uni life, assignments and all, i think we all managed to have some fun. Today, after one of the lectures, we all took photos by the upside down statue near the health science building. It really showed how much we, as a group, have grown and learnt over the year. Ah, i have to get pictures off Doey later. And, as we approach exams, i hope that everyone passes, and have awesome holidays...which Yan, we are still yet to plan.

Anyways, i was watching the ARIAs yesterday and i found it awesome how Geoffery Gurrumul Yunupingu won the award for best independent release. He is blind but yet managed to achieve such a thing, and the song he played was pretty awesome. He is an aborigine and sang this beautiful native song, mixing the guitar and voice very well. The song gave me such a sense of peacefulness, the core of music, with little modifications - utter simpleness =] Oh and btw, The Living End should have won best single - White Noise. Oh and Damo showed me this song that was created by this metal band...'apocalypso' - it was a remake of one of the classic songs: something Nhat played on the piano once....somthing to do with the mountain king lol. But it was quite nice.

And so, as some people may have known, i got a new piano/keyboard thingy - a portable grand. That and smallville practically filled up my weekend. I finished Canon in C, i am so proud of myself...considering i practically have no piano past. Ok, i do have to write in every note and yes, it takes me yonks to learn a new song, but the feeling of playing is awesome!! Still trying to reach an octave with my right hand tho, so that i can play "starlight" by muse - my left hand can reach an octave, i dunno why my right hand can't! And dad bought heaps of pringles last week and i love pringles, absolutely my fav chip/crisp - so went through about 2 cans over the weekend. i know sad, but exercise and enjoy =]

I am so glad that the flag-race was not too bad today. I didnt do too well on the other two that we have had so far, but i reckon, i studied hard over the weekend (i mean on sunday), and i hope it has paid off...so far ok =] OSCE and class 2 practical test on wed, a bit hard not to think about it seeing as it contributes to 60% of the unit :S My class 2 shouldnt be too bad, but i hope i pass the OSCE, cuz i havent attended much lectures this semester for the subject. Ok, better get back to studying now....or more smallville :)

Despite my laptop crashing and hanging (soz Damo, i mean frozen), it has been a pretty good week so far. Monday was fun in Bundoora, playing a "shining game" and this other game during lunch and during lecture. I have to confess, i quite like dental science atm, despite the big workload, its is interesting to learn how the human body works. And now my parents keep asking me why i picked dent instead of med....well, i still like the prac work of dentisty. Making others smile =] On the bus back to Bendigo, Yan and i made one of those chatterbox things with dares inside. Our victims and their respective tasks were:
Damo - pretend to conduct at the front of the bus
Angi - crawl like a cat from the back to the front of the bus
Grace - Hug the person closest to you
Lorry - ask a girl out
Anna - scream out "I'm the king of the world"
Nhat - catwalk from the back to the front of the bus
Alistair got lucky and picked the lucky number and didnt have to do anything

Yesterday Mel came to Bendigo, after a week in hong kong. And she bought everyone mushrooms and keychains. i love the mushrooms so cute!! And also more episodes of friends that Damo and I have been craving for the past week. So we decided to skip tute to watch friends. At first we werent supposed to go to the clinical prac lecture but we heard that colgate was there and the possibility of freebies =] (Nhat said that people in QLD got external hard drives and electric toothbrushes) So we rocked up late and got our showbags...toothbrushes and toothpaste (but no hard drive). Doesnt matter, i got a few electric toothbrushes, and tons of toothpaste.

Toothpastes

Toothbrushes

The entire collection bought by Mel

Mine =]

Later Nhat, Damo, Yan and Mel makan at my place (they wanted to skip shi bang - a ressies thing). We makan while watching a few episodes of friends. Then work/play/study until 1am. Then more friends until 4am lol. Oooh, i forgot to mention, we attached a few mushrooms to the fan and turned on the fan. lol

Spin spin spin

Bible reading for today (from CityLife email):

Jeremiah 9:23-24. This is what the Lord says: "Don't let the wise boast in their wisdom, or the powerful boast in their power, or the rich boast in their riches. But those who wish to boast should boast in this alone: that they truly know me and understand that I am the Lord who demonstrates unfailing love and who brings justice and righteousness to the earth, and that I delight in these things. I, the Lord, have spoken!" NLT

I love this verse...makes you humble =]

Anyways...back to f.r.i.e.n.d.s and ice cream now "wah-puh"

I love my LG, full of randomness, fun, joy, laughter, insight, love, respect, friendship, accountability, discussion, food, generosity, talk, honesty, perceptivity, openess, and more fun =]

To my LG: Jon, Grace, Adeline, Kristy, Kaitlyn, Isaac, Sam, Daryl and Alan - u guys make lg awesome and i love u guys.
The growth of our LG is definately visible, thanks to the hands to Jon to guide us and God's blessing.
One more thing: LG efficiency and randomness, the ongoing email extravaganza...my email is getting full (and so is Jason's - sorry)

Backteeth boys (of Melb Uni) perform "You have dental decay". It is hilarious, esp if you understand the dental terms lol. I must say, not a bad perfomance:

Rejoice evermore
1 Thessalonians 5:16

Notes:
- Rejoice: to feel happiness, to express with joy
- Evermore: for a limitless time
- Simple, concise, eye-opener, awesome, powerful!

Here is some interesting stuff:

Recently, the 2008 Nobel Prize for Chemistry was awarded to Osamu Shimomura, Martin Chalfie and Roger Y. Tsien for their discovery and investigation of the green fluorescent protein. This caught my attention. As i read further, i discovered that this protein, GFP, can be found in a specific jellyfish, Aequorea victoria. This lil jelly fish is amazing, and surprisingly quite beautiful...

They can produce flashes of blue light by releasing Ca2+. Then since this jellyfish has this GFP inside it, it fluoresces green as a result of exposure to blue light. Coloured lights display =] Its a cute lil creature which is a bioluminescent jellyfish, an awesome classification hehe.

Although i played this quite a while ago...it soo cute

Holidays are over and i am back in Bendigo. I havent written a substantial blog in a while but that just goes to show how little time i have spent on the computer. Personally, i reckon the past few weeks have been somewhat interesting and fun. I should be studying for the caries test tomorrow but i seriously cbb... quite a frequent 'feeling' in recent days, especially when it comes to studying lol. But i have to get back into the studying swing.

Here are some updates/interesting stuff/randomities:

Isaac and Rog got baptised:
W00t. Awesome and brave move for Sacs and Rog to get water baptised. Oxygen last wednesday was practically dedicated to their, and Dean's, baptism. My lg and Anthea's lg were there in there as the "Isaac fanclub" - lol, Dan mentioned it a few times =] Isaac's came out with this huge paper for his speech but all in all, it awesome that they are perpared to take their faith one step further. Praise the Lord.

David's (Ng) B'day
Was nice to meet glenny people again. A bunch of us glenny people gave him a guitar...i think he was suprised and i think he really liked it =] And i met some of his pharm friends...interesting people. Marco came later from Manifest yay! I should have gone to manifest...heard there were a few Lulus and Suzakus lol.

Yunn's B'day
At Max Brenners. Tried a few new things...Peanut Butter choc slushie and choc pizza. Surprising both were quite good, as anything chocolate is. It was nice to see some more glenny people. Yunn's pressies were interesting. Later Tim was teaching me how to speak korean haha, i think i only remembered one phrase from it...."Hana hago" - meaning "and this one" lol. Later Gerard and Yunn waited with me for Damo to pass me my retainer. Thanks guys =]

Ally's 20th
W00t. i reckon us dent ppl (+ a few pharm and OH) were totally blown away at how much fun we had at Ally's place. The trip down to Warragul was totally worth it. Ki got drunk, and Damo & Alistair were tipsy, but over all, no casualties. Had fun dancing, eating, taking photos, karaoke. Learnt how to rave, altho i realised that the Tai Chi thingy that Mel taught me was so similar to raving already.

Friends marathon
Thurs night before we left for holidays, Doey, Damo, Mel and I had a super f.r.i.e.n.d.s marathon, altho we ran out of episodes to watch and ended up mucking around and rewatching episodes again. As a few people know already, im totally into friends atm and currently wishing Mel would hurry up and get back from HK so that i can continue watching friends lol. Damo and I are busy quoting friends now haha. p.s. Mel is really strong ... well, she is Monicow rofl.

Running track
Week before holidays...after running at the uni tracks with Nhat, Doey, Damo, Mel and Yan, we decided to lay on the track and watch the stars. It ended up being a personal attack on me and Damo. My shoes were tied to his for a very long time whilst they attacked lol! then we got locked in the tracks area by them and we tried climbing the fence. Joy run turned bad ...

Spring time
Yan and i are suddenly obsessed with flowers. Picked a few on the way to uni and tried to press some. This reminds me, i have to locate my pressed flower. There is this nice patch of yellow flowers that i pass on train ride to and from Dingo. Yan calls it "yellow flower land" =] Dad's orchids are blossoming very nicely.

Oxygen Ball
Yay! Had a good time at a pretty nice place. However the only thing was that there was no "sit down" dinner type thing but there was a huge chair. Janice really loved it XD. The dance floor was a bit small but there were interesting things at Red Scooter, including a red scooter, huge champange glasses and a zebra stripe chair. I was surprised that Matthew Lau didnt recognise me haha. But everyone looked very nice, esp Isaac's mini-fat tie and Tim's very cool shirt.

ok ok, back to watching my movie....

Vanessa Mae + Vivaldi + Final Fantasy = good good combo =]
