Woman 1: "What is that little trash can on the screen?"

Woman 2: "My son says that is call the 'recycle bin'. He tells me when I don't want a Word document anymore and I delete it, it really goes in there."

Woman 1: "Why in the recycle thingy? Can't you just erase it?"

Woman 2: "Oh no, Word wouldn't work for very long if I did that, I would run out of blank pages."

Woman 1: "Why?"

Woman 2: "Because it cleans the words off the pages, then sends the blank sheets back to Word so they can be used again. That's why it's called the recycle bin."

its 3:14am and my stomach hurts from laughing lol!

sometimes to do what is right, requires sacrifice.
sometimes to do what is needed, requires sacrifice.

And so that time as arrived again - exam cramming time. And, as usual i tend to divert to blogging as a form of procrastination.

Here's an interesting case (seeing as i am revising medicine atm):

Mum's bday was 2 week ago (ate korean bbq) but i just came across this pic again. Its 팥빙수 ("patbingsu"), a typical dessert in south korea - similar to ice kachang in malaysia, cept i think this one is a tad more elaborate. There are many variations of the dish. I think this particular one had shaven ice, ice cream, assorted berries, cornflakes, some sort of red bean (pat - 팥), strawberries, pineapple, condensed milk, rice cake and jelly! I must say, it does beat the atypical ice kachang, mostly cuz of the fruits and ice cream =P

awww: i miss the awesome kids church song from primary school

Recently a lot of "no-so-good" stuff have been happening to me, lots of self-doubt, maybe even a little decline in my faith. But he i do declare a testimony, one that really does come at the time when it is most needed.

- Our strength come from God: Without him, i would not have had the courage on saturday
- Lean not on your own understanding: God knows best, commit everything to Him and He'll guide you
- Kids church opens your eyes to simple truths: i have used last saturday's bible lesson about 4 times this week - when speaking to friends or even addressing my own doubts
- You are where you are for a reason: God strategically placed you in your current situation - you may not know the reason yet but His plan for your life is amazing
- God will never leave you alone: He does indeed walk with you - He'll provide support - like today > i suddenly felt God's support here in Bendigo =P
- Pray, pray, pray: it does wonders!!!

FILL IN THE BLANKS with anything except the word “LOVE.” No repeating answers.
1. All you need is ______.
2. _____ make(s) the world go round.
3. Both of us know it: ____ is a battlefield.
4. Without _____, life is rock ‘n’ roll without a drummer.
5. ____ is blind.
6. Everything’s fair in ____ and war.
7. Measure your life in ____.
8. The greatest thing you’ll ever learn is just to ____ and be ____ in return.
9. I don’t care who you are, where you’re from, what you did — as long as you ____ me.

Tech Support: Hello … how can I help you?

Customer: Well, after much consideration, I’ve decided to install Love. Can you guide me through the process?

Tech Support: Yes. I can help you. Are you ready to proceed?

Customer: Well, I’m not very technical, but I think I’m ready. What do I do first?

Tech Support: The first step is to open your Heart. Have you located your Heart?

Customer: Yes, but there are several other programs running now. Is it okay to install Love while they are running?

Tech Support: What programs are running ?

Customer: Let’s see, I have Past Hurt, Low Self-Esteem, Grudge and Resentment running right now.

Tech Support: No problem, Love will gradually erase Past Hurt from your current operating system. It may remain in your permanent memory but it will no longer disrupt other programs. Love will eventually override Low Self-Esteem with a module of its own called High Self-Esteem. However, you have to completely turn off Grudge and Resentment. Those programs prevent Love from being properly installed. Can you turn those off ?

Customer: I don’t know how to turn them off. Can you tell me how?

Tech Support: With pleasure. Go to your start menu and invoke Forgiveness. Do this as many times as necessary until Grudge and Resentment have been completely erased.

Customer: Okay, done! Love has started installing itself. Is that normal?

Tech Support: Yes, but remember that you have only the base program. You need to begin connecting to other Hearts in order to getthe upgrades.

Customer: Oops! I have an error message already. It says, “Error- Program not run on external components.” What should I do?

Tech Support: Don’t worry. It means that the Love program is setup to run on Internal Hearts, but has not yet been run on your Heart. In non-technical terms, it simply means you have to Love yourself beforeyou can Love others.

Customer: So, what should I do?

Tech Support: Pull down Self-Acceptance; then click on the following files: Forgive-Self; Realize Your Worth; and Acknowledge your Limitations.

Customer: Okay, done.

Tech Support: Now, copy them to the “My Heart” directory. The system will overwrite any conflicting files and begin patching faulty programming. Also, you need to delete Verbose Self-Criticism from all directories and empty your Recycle Bin to make sure it is completely gone and never comes back.

Customer: Got it. Hey! My heart is filling up with new files.Smile is playing on my monitor and Peace and Contentment are copyingthemselves all over My Heart. Is this normal?

Tech Support: Sometimes. For others it takes awhile, but eventually everything gets it at the proper time. So Love is installed and running. One more thing before we hang up. Love is Freeware. Be sureto give it and its various modules to everyone you meet. They will inturn share it with others and return some cool modules back to you.

Coincidently listened to Ps Judah Smith's "Wounded the way i should be" which explains the verse.
A good friend wounds (hurting you now to prevent yourself getting hurt later) you.
You need a friend that doesnt "kiss" you (makes you feel good) but is someone that you are accountable to. =]

From Mark Connor's blog: "An interview with Rick Warren"

"I used to think that life was hills and valleys - you go through a dark time, then you go to the mountaintop, back and forth. I don't believe that anymore.
Rather than life being hills and valleys, I believe that it's kind of like two rails on a railroad track, and at all times you have something good and something bad in your life.
No matter how good things are in your life, there is always something bad that needs to be worked on.
And no matter how bad things are in your life, there is always something good you can thank God for."

"You can focus on your purposes, or you can focus on your problems. If you focus on your problems, you're going into self-centeredness, "which is my problem, my issues, my pain." But one of the easiest ways to get rid of pain is to get your focus off yourself and onto God and others."

"Happy moments, PRAISE GOD.
Difficult moments, SEEK GOD.
Quiet moments, WORSHIP GOD.
Painful moments, TRUST GOD.
Every moment, THANK GOD."
Amen.

national anthem: a song of devotion and loyalty adopted by the country

its a very random topic to discuss, but came about when mel and i were singing national anthems last night.

Singaporean anthem: mel's country of residence for most of her life. apparently most sing ppl lack loyalty: mel doesnt like sg. Devotion maybe, with the NS stuff, tho i know lots of s'poreans that wont go back for that either.

Malaysian anthem: lol its amazing that i still remember how to sing it - but the malay a bit wrong i know.

New Zealand anthem: by far the coolest anthem i know how to sing - cuz in school we had to leam the maori and english version awesome as. hehe wish i could visit nz again, no: not for the sheeps, but for the scenery. which reminds me: came across an old maori song that we used to sing in primary school, very nice song - sung by Hayley Westenra, a girl from my school (Cobham Intermediate) in nz...who's now like a superstar...awesomely amazing voice! The song totally reminds me of my childhood in nz =]

Hayley Westenra - Pokarekare Ana

Australian anthem: lol, my parents used to think that waltzing matilda was the national anthem. but yeh - it an ok anthem: hehe too used to it now. Which reminds me again: of rubgy league/union. I miss it! Used to watch it heaps in nz - ah the rivalry between the all blacks (nz team) and the wallabies (aus team)! LOL - i also decided to watch the haka again in youtube, i rmb how me and my bro always loved watching the haka! The haka is a maori dance performed on special occasions, as a welcome, or celebration. Ka Mate, is a type of haka used by the all blacks in international rugby games: its like a war dance to intimidate the opponent - but beautiful to watch. It involves lots of aggression, scary faces, grunting and chanting and lead by a group leader.

ah~ back to study now =]

Ok i finally uploaded the vid that the bendigo gang made for grace's 21st.

for info on the vid read:
http://a-fireproof-life.blogspot.com/2009/03/here-and-there.html

edit:// decided to take vid off again...in case of alerting higher authorities. blink me if u want to see it and i'll link u up =]

LOL - its been quite a while since i have blogged. Many have commented about my lack of blogging, however - i do not see this lack of blogging as a bad thing - it means that i have been super busy (not study type of busy tho) or found have found another portal to discuss my thoughts and rationales. I fear that my 4am sleeping time have a profound impact on the way i view the world - for one, i have learnt many a things from insightly feedback from friends and exploration of ideas. However i also fear that influences around me can and will change me. Already i have experienced some negative and positive effects from influences - wow: a little insight from LG allowed me to dig deeper into this topic that have been tossing and turning in my head.

After countless nights of thoughts - i believe that my parents are right: even tho i tend to not acknowledge their wisdom in many matters, they have a big part in steering me in the right direction every time. Theories and unfruitful analyses have taken up much of those "alone" times. Waiting for answers is always extremely toilsome but sometimes all u got to do is have faith. Complete trust in the Lord, that he will reveal particular insights to you in due time. Often i'm impatient for answers, for knowledge: failing to realise that the journey is often what is needed to obtain the answer. In a timely fashion, CityLife started the book of Proverbs this May - i shall follow closely, waiting, thirsting for wisdom. I love my bible - especially the cover: like a jug of water...for those who thirst!

On the lighter side, the past few weeks of uni have just flown by, however marked by several highlights. Birthdays, social nights, random video-ing, breakdancing, and...eating have proven more fun than studying, and hence resulting in the extremely high play to study ratio. Here's one of the outputs of 2nd year dent so far (a few impromptu vids):

Boulevard of Broken Dreams - Air-5

notes: filming was done in under an hour; doey's awesome vid editing; competely unscripted
This is the final copy with the mish-mash of the original mel/rach vid with the air band vid.
For other vids: http://doey.blip.tv/#2074438 (vid1: final cut; vid2: random cut; vid3: original cut; vid4: original mel/rach acting =])

Anyways: masterchef and other variety shows are about to start on tv - must take nap now =]

Its been a while since i've blogged. Firstly, i blame the really snail slow speed internet at my bendigo place - capped 1.5 weeks into the semester (not a good thing)! Secondly, the first few weeks of uni have been totally awesome and packed: heaps to do and not enough studying done lol. Meh, i have a day free today, one of many free days that i have been having - i serz think there is something fishy about my course having so little hours, but i cant complain =]

And so 1st week started off with Mel's birthday surprise...and boy was it an awesome surprise! The dent kids have already organised a dent get together for the first wed back, and double that as a surprise bday for mel. however, it was discussed that it was too obvious and so we decided to surprise her on the wed morning, the morning that nhat, doey and i have been summoned to help with mel's ex-house's gardening (lol). So the rest of the gang hid away in her ex-house and surprised her when she opened the door (she did fall back onto me with the huge surprise). Good one! She has since been very prone to sudden "boo"s from nhat and i at random times hehe. The wed night gathering didnt end up surprising mel anymore, but a huge group of us had heaps of fun and grace and i managed to introduced HATS to the dent group; a slightly modified version but still awesome nevertheless~

Then prep for Grace's bday had to begin. So we all decided to stay back on the fri morning despite having no classes that day. We decided to make a music vid for grace + add sarah and my speech on the end of that. Choosing the song was pretty easy but the lyrics were so hard to make up. We ended up with "hot and cold" by katy perry > what followed was hours of song lyric creation.
Final product:
U-MAT stuffed us up, you don’t know
Melbourne U turned us down, now we live in a hole
93 miles away, travelling is a pain
You should know, we thought Bendigo was lame!

Cause you’re hot and you burn
Outside of Melbourne
We’re in and we’re out
We pack and unpack

You’re hot and you’re cold
Outside of Melbourne
We doubt and we hope
We laugh and we joke

(You) You don’t really wanna stay, no
(But you) You don’t really wanna go-oh

Cause you’re hot and you’re cold
In Bendigo world
We doubt and we hope
We joke and we laugh
4 hours straight, we have prac in the lab
Start at 8, mutilate, Wilson don’t appreciate
Waste material, water fights, rubber dams, n fluoride
We should know, just another day in the lab

Cause we drill and we fill
We mix and we cure
We scale and we fail
We burn and we learn

Anatomy’s a drag
We sleep or we wag
So we couldn’t care less
Last minute we stress

(You) You don’t really wanna stay, no
(But you) You don’t really wanna go-oh

Cause we drill and we fill
We mix and we cure
We scale and we fail
We burn and we learn
Someone call the dentist
Got a case of gingivitis
Quick check up, get a big loan
I’m gonna buy a car

We try our best to put a smile on your face

Yeah, Bendigo is cool
We meet. We have fun
We scream. We play games
We hang as a gang

We drill and we fill
We mix and we cure
We scale and we fail
We burn and we learn

katy perry's "hot and cold" - remake + new lyrics
rob thomas's "little wonders" (GWSC class of '07 graduation song)
I'm from barcelona's "the painter" (featured on HIMYM: w00t! awesome as tv show)

note: due to consensus of the group - we've decided no to put the video up - till later, maybe xP. But if u wanna view it, just ask =]

2nd week was pretty much all spent on making grace's vid, from tues arvo's group singing to the entire wed devoted to editing the some videos to me and mel staying up to 5am on wed night editing the rest of the video. It was a super long week and hats off to the gang (sarah, ika, mel, yuin, thu, damo, henry, lorry, ken, harri) for an awesome effort. video may be posted up soon. ooh and today is grace's actual bday - Happy Bdae Grace (and sharon pau) =] And another bday was sharon's bday. Epic fail by me: mashed brocolli and carrot soup - it did sound nice tho, when presented :P

Other notable events:
laser tag night with the first years, good fun and awesome meeting the 1st years - and epic fail on the run in on the guy's photo by mel and i

watchmen night - ppl thought mel and i had tourette's; mel's super loud shout "the movie's started!!"; damo wanted to 'watch men'

2nd year is not too bad so far. lol, that was horrible grammar (english skills deterioration). The fact that we know everyone already and that we are all close as a gang =] Visits to people's houses have been plenty: including a late night visit to ally's place (with cookies!!); pool at damo/henry/roman/jase's; "tute questions" night at alistairs - which quickly turned into talk/pool night LOL.

but the most of the time have been spent at PT (house at bendigo) - mucking around with nhat, doey and mel. Eeyore has been the subject of many kidnappings...and many ransom photos. Us four have heaps of fun marathoning tv shows (dexter, big bang, sarah connor chronicles); making midnight snacks; playing mao (mel still hasnt won yet LOL!); juggling; playing guitar (and attempted singing). Ah, its only been 3 wks and its a chaotic house!!

rach out =]
